RIZER • 6 months ago

I’m so glad that the anime ended at this point. I just completed the manhwa. I'm gonna tell u but let me warn u first if ur invested and like how it's going now DON'T read more chapters, watch just these 22 episodes, act like it just ended here and definitely don't read what im about to write. ( If u like this series stop yourself here don't read more chapters and don't watch more Don't. I want to save you guys from what I went through and want you to read my comment instead if you are planning to read the manhwa. Don't inflict yourself with pain, anger and sadness. I warned u multiple times now so...
MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!

So the ending of the manhwa is utter trash. I can’t even begin to explain just how bad was the ending. I was so unlucky that I didn’t got spoiled and binged the manhwa. First to make it easier, Shiya is called Duna and juntuang is called Joon in the webtoon/manhwa.

Sad to say that Joon didn’t ended up with Duna. Well it happens like how the mc don’t end up with the girl you like. (E.g animes like Gotoubun no hanayome). But in that anime it was justified. Here in the girl downstairs, the ending wasn’t justified and just felt rushed and showed how brain dead the author was. He might be a s@dist lmao. The amount of development Joon’s and Duna’s relationship got in the webtoon doesn’t even comes close to what they showed in these 22 episodes. These cover the first 54 chapters and between the 60 and 80th chapters, Duna and Joon’s relationship was at its peak when they got intimate(like did way more than a kiss ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )The manhwa turned into a sweet manhwa about a couple who just do things that make you feel single. By the time they went on a trip to Yoon’s villa(the other guy living in the apartments) they were so in love with each other. Joon literally thought about his first child with Duna being a daughter. He introduced her to his parents and even Joon’s mom looked like Duna when she was young and how his dad fell for her too. All this development made me think like they are one of the best couples I’ve seen in all of anime or manhwas and can’t even imagine them breaking up. They went a lot on dates, made their relationship public, swore beneath a starry sky that they won’t ever leave each other
So what happened?

So basically in the end joon goes to the army for quite some time it's 5 years if i remember well then he comes back but he's ghosted by duna. Joon tries to meet her and get back together at her fan meet up. He asks her why she ghosted him which she replies that she was charged with a lawsuit. She had no chance but to get back in the industry to pay back. She isn’t allowed to date. After several months or maybe an year they met each other from time to time and when Joon straight out said they he don’t want them to end and wants to date her again. Duna lies about having a boyfriend. This is a goddamn plot hole like the author didn’t even though that the company would allow Duna to have some other boyfriend until unless it’s joon. Due to a stupid reason Joon believed Duna. The day she rejected Joon, they both went on a date and I literally raged like how both of them were so in love with each other, blushing like teens even after like 5-6 years of breaking up. Duna chose work over love and since she was an idol(she thought this life was made for her and she belonged only here and she had no place with joon) she thought joon would be happier if she wasn't apart of her life anymore, i personally think it's a really dumb way of thinking since for joon duna was his everything.

It defeats the whole purpose of the story.
Duna was basically a walking corpse (dead inside) until Joon gave color to her life.
He was willing to give the world to Duna with no hesitation. Duna made him promise to never leave her side but she was the one who left him. Never tried to look for a solution against the lawsuit (she just went "oh f**k it ill give up since theres nothing i can do") which is entirely bu||Sh!t since there were many flaws to the lawsuit. If you sum it all up, Duna was very unstable throughout their relationship she was never 100% sure that this was really what she wanted with her future it feels more like she just live for the moment just for the sake of being able to forget past that made her quit as an idol. She truly loved Joon that is a fact but the author literally contradicted her whole character with this ending. It’s clear that they still love each other, duna wouldnt have to quit her career just to be with joon, they could've find out a way to work since they loved each other so much. I even googled it that K pop idols like retire in their 30s or most they would go far as 35. By the end of the series Duna was 31 yo. They could’ve easily made it out but the author had just one thing to do and he messed up pretty big.

In the end Joon suddenly, ended up with ira(the orange haired girl). And I felt bad for Ira. That's a lot more understandable. She felt like a side piece the whole story and basically cuck£d herself by continuing like Joon. I like her but she did not deserve to get suddenly thrown with him just for the sake of it. Also the main reason the author made some dumb side story to defend the ending, but she deserved better. Making Ira and Jon a couple is just ethically insane. Author used the concept of coincidence for Ira like how she was always with him but wasn’t meeting of joon and duna full of coincidences too?? *sighs*

The classic "author needs a different kind of ending so they throw away years of characterization for the characters they built and make them do stuff bc reasons ending" also this not only shafted Duna and Joon but Ira damn, had the author extended the ending oh idk 50 to 100 more chapters then yeah this might have made sense but even with the side story still a horrible ending

The Author used the excuse of realistic ending. Animes like 5cm per second is what you call realistic ending, this was just a bizarre and dumb attempt. Joon ended up with someone who he even doesn’t fully love. The author made a dumb side story of how he and ira ended up and even at the very last chapter he is still thinking about Duna. He didn’t went to her concert while the others did which makes us feel that he isn’t actually over her. I’m literally depressed, angry, sad and what not at the end. To add fuels to the flame, the s@distic author even showed us a fabricated future like how things would have gone if duna and joon didn’t broke up. That chapter was so sad cuz it was all just a hypothetical situation which joon and duna were thinking about in their very last night together. They thought about their planned trip to hawaii, like how Joon would’ve secretly met her during her idol tenure and also about their daughter. Like when you can literally show us that then why can’t you make that the actual ending!!???

Even after this you still wanna read it then i would recommend you to read it just before the time skip happens. Like around between ch 90 and 100. You will still get to see very sweet moments between Duna and Joon but after that don’t even think about going further cuz i did without knowing and I regret it.
I still hope that if this gets a season 2 then they better change the ending. That is the last thing that can heal my soul.

Sorry to those guys who might get offended by seeing a long a$$ comment but i had to vent it all out.

Hope they don't adapt the second season

Nerdcatlady • 10 months ago

😐😑 No. Cringe. 🙄😬

Unfortunately while there were some good moments, I didn't like way it ended and I hope there's no more of this.

Both Juntang and Zhu being together for so long, liking each other and still not confess out of fake ignorance is stupid and waiting to do that until another girl appears out of nowhere is cringe. 😤

Even more cringe when he "realised" that he chose/prefered to stay with this crazy yandere full of mental issues girl, Shiya just because she's "mysterious" while the truth is that she suddenly approached him, "jumped on" him, and starting luring him and teasing him all the time. 🤢

Throwing away everything beautiful and pure that was building with Zhu for so many years and falling for that b*tch just because a prettier ex-idol "by chance", wants to make out with him and makes him think with his d*ck. 🥴

😆🤡🙉 Right after he was crying, instead of chilling down for a while, he immediately run to tell her - 🥴🥰 oh Shiya I like you, f*ck Zhu it came to an end, I prefer you, 😎😩🥵🙄 now go get undressed and I'm c*ming to you with flowers.... 🤮😷

So imo nope. 22 episodes of cringe, 4/10 bye. 🥶

Demon Lord Ariel • 10 months ago

Fake ignorance, no. Zhu actually had a understandable reason for holding her feelings back. When you have a controlling abusive father like that, it will break you mentally. The MC is the true idiot here. Even though Zhu was showing hints she likes him that even Shiya pointed it out, he still believed she didn't had feelings for him. Zhu had a reason for being scared of being fully open thanks to the trauma her dad caused her. The MC was just a cowardly fool. And btw, Shiya HAS a reason for being how she is. She has gone through a lot but when you're too lacking in common sense to see the obvious and just see it as CRINGE, MEH. Next time, pay better attention.

Nerdcatlady • 10 months ago

lndeed that's what l said too, l never disagreed that Juntang was the worse and I also explained it more, in the other comments and for the fake ignorance l was referring mostly to him exactly for the reason you said that he believed she didn't want him, almost until the end that she had to be that much clear about it so don't tell me that it wasn't cringe that he couldn't realize it. 😅
Hmm, yes you're right l hadn't thought of it this way about Zhu, she was at fault too choosing to confess after he already had feelings for another but she's the less to blame.
But l won't agree for Shiya the snowflake and l still find the whole triangle thing cringe and didn't like it, sorry maybe it just wasn't for me. 🤷‍♀️

What a crazy perspective. Relationships are complex. Nobody is going to wait on someone who willingly ignores them.

If Zhu REALLY wanted it to work out, she could have explained her situation better, confessed to him, and ask if he'd be willing to wait. Actually communicate her feeling. Most guys would be fine with that, especially for their first love. I don't blame her for waiting, but I definitely don't blame the MC for not waiting when he wasn't aware of her feelings. The only thing I blame him for is dragging it out longer than he had to.

He knew his feelings for Zhu and Shiya has changed. He realized it a lot sooner than he professed. The lesson of this story is that earnestly loving someone doesn't always pay off. It's crazy that you didn't realize that it applied to more than just the orange haired chick (forgot her name, R.I.P., she never had a chance).

This show is a great display of how love doesn't always work the way you think it will. I think your character bias is a bit strong on this one. You actually liked the show more than you think, but it didn't end with the "ship" you wanted. How ridiculous.

Nerdcatlady • 10 months ago

Ridiculous or not, I still blame everyone not just Zhu. Nobody handled it right.

I blame Zhu that she waited for so long without telling him how she feels and only threw him some hints when she had the hunch that something changed, well that's too late, although, she's the least to be blamed.

Also if it was only Shiya when she approached him and they fell in love, good but when there's already another person to be considerd then things change.

They are not in primary school to be shy and hide their feelings so I also blame Juntang the most because if he was in love with Zhu and was wondering about her and if he asked her first and she confessed earlier, there would be no Shiya not anyone else, confusing the situation - but then there would be no anime for us to watch, it would end since ep1.
So either he wasn't really in love with Zhu or he was immature and stupid enough to fall for the first random girl that showed him some interest like throwing a bone to a hungry dog. 🤡

Anyway that is just my opinion, no I didn't like it and I explained why. Of course nobody is wrong because everyone can have a different opinion or see it from a different perspective so, it's understandable - for example it's also true that the only one clear about who liked who, indeed was Shiya. But anyway, since nobody else was clear about their feelings exactly because relationships are complex that's why it ended that way and either you'll love it or dislike it like me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

*Edited due to accidental publish*
Uh yea, for pointers, this comment was great when compared to your first. It is like two different point, even though your perspective was the same. Your first comment felt like I was supposed to know who you are for the way you respond to the series, which is surprising because it attacks me. While this comment was toned with some self control and polished as if you are making a point to a stranger, which gets along with me. Very interesting, I understand your point though.

I think this series is perfect because there are many of us who is able to perceive many the differences and have a connection to which you prefer, as intended since the director decided to rewrite the ending with the author accepting the release of the animation as is, unless otherwise. I do have a middle ground idea, but it will make this boring as it will not attract quality attention, such as us who criticizes to this extent.

Nerdcatlady • 9 months ago

First comment was just my reaction immediately after watching the episode, I wasn't trying to attack or referring to anyone, sorry if someone misunderstood, those were just my thoughts written about the fictional characters of the episode.
The other comment since it was someone's response, of course was toned since I answered to a real person, trying to have a conversation and explain each pov better. For me it was just a disagreement in opinions, not a fighting or an attack about who is right or wrong and a description of different point of views.
We're all strangers in here anyway still, for me it is a little, a matter of respect while simply talking to someone (not about getting along with or attacking to another) there's no reason for it except if someone is trolling or being ironic, personally to me.
We should know the difference between just writing an 'angry' or whatever comment about a topic and a comment with personal attack. That's why you saw difference in my comments. 😄 As for the series, I only watched it, haven't read it (since you said about the author).

You sure you're not retarded?

Nerdcatlady • 6 months ago

Listen man, I only said my thoughts about the episode, I didn't insult you personally so you didn't have to be that quarrelsome if you didn't like them. You could actually just kindly disagree and tell your opinion too but since you chose to respond like an immature a@@hole, then it's your fault about the corresponding answers you receive.

I never had any intention to insult you like you're doing but YOU started that stupidity by annoying me for no reason ok? So if you keep doing it and keep asking stupid questions and not discussing seriously about the episode or something, I could keep answering you the same way and trolling you forever, until you get who is the retarded here. <3

Another childhood friend bites the dust sadly. I kinda of liked this ending though. Maybe it would have been a much sweeter ending is Zhu was chosen near to the end. Maybe an earlier confession. Definitely would have been better after Shiya was able to move forward with her own issues though. I could already see the Shiya loosing her cool & the story go down a wicked path... could have been far more dramatic.

At a certain point in the story I feel like Juntang was pretty indecisive about who he wanted... reminded me of a few other MCs in similar situations.

Felt slightly bad for Ruoni during Juntan's confession 😅
